Meet Anthony, Charging The Tech Industry in Kenya, One USB At A Time – Gadgets Africa

Tech industry

Muthungu Anthony is a 28-year-old founder of TOTOSCI Holdings Ltd. He notes that buying and selling of counterfeit products is one of the major factors contributing to the death of MSMEs. Especially in the electronics industry. This is why he founded TOTOSCI, a factory in Kenya, Kirinyaga County which manufactures authentic, high-quality USB cables & chargers.

Anthony and TOTOSCI: Future of Tech in Kenya One USB at a Time

The journey began in his early years when he made biogas from a pit latrine to light his father’s house. However, when he was working on the innovation one day, he was electrocuted. This angered his father and he destroyed all the wiring Antony had engineered. Fortunately, this did not stop him and he has been innovating ever since.

He is currently the CEO of TOTOSCI Academy and is driven by a passion for innovating. He is a trained computer engineer, ‘student-preneur’ & self-taught inventor of a long list of inventions drawn from the practical necessities of his home life.

For instance

  • Smart walking stick for the blind
  • Blackspot detector for driver safety
  • Innovative flooding system that measures the intensity of floods.
  • Recently, he and a partner have invented a ventilator as well

Most of my Inventions are social and aim to solve ordinary societal problems. ~ Anthony Muthungu

This explains the manufacture of high-quality micro, type-c and iPhone cables in Kenya. The products look to be doing well as he is already on the lookout for distributors across the country. Approved by KEBs and certified as made in Kenya by BrandKenya, Anthony looks to push tech in Kenya to new heights.

The company also intends to start earphone & mobile phone production soon. Kudos to all those trying to make a difference.
